Monitors Update

The pediatrician called to tell us she received the latest report of the monitors and there's good news and not so good news.

GOOD NEWS: None of the babies had any apnea episodes where they stop breathing! This is the first time that all three have gone a monitoring period without having one so this is definitely one giant step in the right direction.

NOT SO GOOD NEWS: Unfortunately, all three babies are still having bradycardia episodes where their heart rate drops too low. However, the pediatrician did say that it was recommended to lower the # of heartbeats per minute to 70 instead of 80 in order to consider it a "brady" so hopefully this adjustment will show that the babies are doing well enough to come off completely.

CONCLUSION: The babies will have to stay on them for at least another month until they are free from any bradycardia or apnea episodes. Hopefully the apnea events are now just a distant memory! I just figured I'd update you since I think the questions: "When will the babies come off the monitors???" or "They aren't off those things yet?!" are the ones we get asked most frequently. Yes, the monitors can be a nuisance at times, especially when a more active baby's hand finds the electrode wires and pulls but we're grateful that we have three otherwise healthy babies!

Aww, well from my experience, it should come soon! Hopefully next month at least one or maybe two will be off! Jaeli had the same thing, no apnea, but has bradys, so they told me she only had to wear it at night. Maybe that will be the case next month if they are still having them! Good luck!

My 9 month old is on an apnea monitor, I feel your pain, that thing is a pain the @##! The older he gets the more it goes off, his leads are always stuck to his sleeper.

He also gets the RSV shots. I hope you get through the red tape in time for the January shot. Thankfully our ins. isn't changing. I heard it's a bear when your ins changes in the middle of the treatment. Good Luck!
