The bomb that was dropped Pearl Harbor Day 2007

It was a year ago today, on Pearl Harbor Day, that a "bomb" of sorts was dropped! I remember going in early that morning for my pregnancy blood test and having to wait all day long for a phone call to find out the results, even though I truly did not think that it was going to come back positive. The month before, I really thought that I was pregnant so when I got the call telling me it was a BIG FAT NEGATIVE, I can't deny that I was rather disappointed. Maybe this experience was part of the reason why I was a bit skeptical the second time around.

Anyhow, I had been teaching that day and every time I got a break, I would check my voicemail thinking there would be a message for me but there wasn't. I was told that morning that I would receive a call by 4:00pm. As that hour rolled around without any word, my anxiety hit an all-time high. Pearl Harbor Day last year fell on a Friday and I was afraid that I wouldn't hear anything and then have to wonder all weekend long. Fortunately, just a few minutes before 4:00pm, I got that awaited phone call when I heard on the other line: "Congratulations on your positive test!" My ears could not believe what they were hearing and I was in shock! I guess after 4+ years of trying to conceive, finally hearing that we were successful was definitely a surprise to me. It wasn't that I was being negative in my thinking but I didn't want to get myself excited and then get disappointed again like what happened the month before. However, the nurse did give a disclaimer and told me that I'd have to come back on Monday to have another beta as sometimes people have false-positive results but that my hcg levels were in the 400-500 range, which was really good.

Now it was time to call Eric to tell him the news. For those who don't know my husband very well, he is a big-time teaser. He loves to tell people the opposite of what is really truth just to get a rise out of them and it drives everyone batty, especially me! He has done this so many times and with really big news so I jumped at my chance to get back at him. I was driving home from work when I called him on my cell phone to tell him that I had heard back from the doctor's office and that I had something to tell him, but I was using a disappointed voice to relay this to him. Eric thought for sure that it was a negative result but then I surprised him big time, just as the Japanese had done at Pearl Harbor 66 years prior with a BIG FAT POSITIVE!

We were both very happy to hear that we were finally expecting a baby. Little did we know then that this "bomb" would have an even bigger impact than we had thought possible!

Joy! What a blessed time of year to have received good news and now have the babies at home. Little angel miracles that hearken back to that special baby, the best news of all!

It's nice to see another LDS mom on here who had a long time TTC. We were also 4+ years and have B/G twins who are almost 8 months old!
Congratulations! It does get easier as time goes on. They are starting to 'hold back' now when I hold them at the same time! It takes a lot less effort to carry them.
