It's hard to believe that it's been 2 full months since we celebrated the trio's 1st birthday but I guess the quick passing of the summer is an indication. I'm long overdue to give updates since I missed posting at 13 months so this post is going to be a bit lengthy so please bear with me.
~*KRISTA*~
Krista is becoming more and more independent and is on the verge of being a full fledged walker! She is taking 7-8 steps at a time and is quite tickled with herself when she makes it from one place to the next. She will clap to celebrate her accomplishment and then head back the other way so she can get more applause from whoever happens to be watching at the time.
As I mentioned in a previous post, she has really caught on to signing. She has also said her first official word (other than "mama" and "dada") which was BANANA! She is also still the most dominant of the three...it must have something to do with her being the first born. She is such a mini-me! Krista has also been busy these days climbing anything and everything and boy is she quick.
She's also very aware of what is going on around her and can be rather sneaky. She will watch to see if you're looking at her before she does something naughty. When we tell her NO, her little hands shake to abandon whatever it is that she knows she's not supposed to be doing.
She's very helpful when getting dressed putting her head and arms through the holes and can pull her shirt off when it's time to get undressed. At one time, it seemed like she didn't giggle or get excited very much but that is definitely not the case now! She is very animated and expressive. We love to hear her infectious whippoorwill laugh and she's been hamming it up for the camera.
~JAMISON~
Jamison, the most laid back of the trio, has really started to make some strides and is catching up to his sisters. All summer long, he's been relying on the commando crawl to get him from place to place but in the past few weeks, he's been crawling on all fours and is quite fast now! He's able to hit the beach ball in one fluid motion while he's crawling as well. He reminds us of a soccer player except he's using his arms and hands instead of his legs and feet!
*~KIERA~*
Kiera is still our little doll. She is a great eater and our best milk drinker but just has a petite build. She has the most delicate pincer grip and picks up her food very gingerly before placing it in her mouth.
In the past couple of weeks, she's started to stand independently for longer periods of time. However, she tends to go up on her tippy toes when she is walking using the push toy and when we hold her hands. The Physical Therapist suggested that we put shoes on her when she is practicing to help bring her heels down to the floor. None of the shoes we had at the house gave enough support so we had to take a special shopping trip with just her to get some sneakers. This proved to be quite the challenge because most Size 2 shoes are more decorative than functional because that size is for babies 3-6 months old! We finally found an appropriate pair at Walmart that are almost as cute as she is! It's funny to see such a little girl trying to walk in her little shoes!
She still hasn't outgrown her nickname "Little Fuss" but is generally happier, especially when she is in daddy's arms or tagging around with big sis. She loves to rock back and forth to music and said her first real word UP recently. Not only does she say UP, but she has discovered how to get UP onto the couch using Mommy, Daddy, Nonna and Poppy as a step stool.
All three babies have mastered going UP the stairs. I guess now we need to work on going DOWN the stairs, scary! Each of the three are also proficient in clapping their hands. Jamison was the first one to do it several months ago and Krista and Kiera caught on in the last month or so. Once one starts to clap, they all clap! They are still taking 2 naps a day, one at 9:30 or so for about 60-90 minutes and than another nap around 1:30 for another 90-120 minutes. However, the morning nap has been getting shorter and shorter so I'm thinking they may be transitioning to taking one long afternoon nap. I guess we'll see. We're still working on weaning off of the bottle. All three are getting 4 oz. of milk at breakfast and lunch from a sippy cup but are still taking bottles after their afternoon nap and before bed. Hopefully in the next month of so, we'll be bottle free!
This really is such a fun age and it seems like they are able to do more and more each day. I can't wait to see what they do next!
