We had to get ourselves ready and then spent an additional hour attempting to dress the little ones in their Easter attire that Nonna had picked out for them: beautiful pastel dresses for Krista & Kiera and a sharp looking suit complete with a pink tie to match the girls for Jamison!
Since it was time for the babies to nap, we decided to pack them up in the car and drive around town for awhile prior to going to church. This worked out well because the trio slept the whole time and Eric and I enjoyed a nice Sunday drive on a beautiful Easter day. It was also a more welcome idea than trying to let babies sleep for an hour, wake them up when they didn't want to get up, dress them and rush to get to church on time for Sacrament Meeting.
When we arrived to the church, we were relieved to find that my mother had found us a new pew in the chapel. We used to sit in a smaller one on the left side but now we have full claim on a long middle row toward the back for easy escape with a fussy baby!
We received lots of attention for people who have been anxiously awaiting our church debut since the babies were blessed back in October. I was nervous about taking the kids to church but everyone was very respectful and we didn't have a lot of people trying to paw at them, thank goodness! Besides it being Easter, it was also the baby blessing of our friends, Robert and Liz Petersen's baby, Raya, so we were thrilled to be able to be a part of their special day.
Throughout the meeting, the babies actually did a fantastic job. We were especially concerned about Kiera, our little fuss, but she did very well the entire time. Jamison, who we thought would be the easiest of the three, turned out to be the most difficult because of his fear of the organ! Every time the organ would start to play a hymn, Jamison's lip would come out and within a few seconds, loud crying! My mother ended up having to take him out each time until he calmed himself down. I guess we need to play organ music at our house to get him adjusted to it!
When we made it back home, we attempted to take photos of the babies in their Easter clothing but they were about done at that point. Even though they are not the best pictures, all three look absolutely adorable in their fancy outfits!
The babies each got their very own Easter basket of goodies. The board books from the Easter Bunny worked perfectly to keep the kiddos entertained at church! I was especially excited because the Easter baskets, grass, stuffed ducks and about 100 eggs all came from Freecycle so we didn't have to spend money on that stuff yet, as you can tell from the photos and video clip (coming shortly), the babies had a blast digging through their baskets!
HAPPY EASTER!!!
