Our 1st Family Vacation to the Beach

For the past few months, Eric has been on a new work schedule where he is off every other Friday. On his days off, we have planned little outings like to the park or out for breakfast so we can spend time together as a family. After talking about how nice it would be to go to the beach before the new baby is born, we decided to just go for it!

After much packing, preparing and driving, we finally made it to Ocean City! It's amazing how much stuff is required to go on a two night trip. We stayed at a nice family-friendly resort that had a suite so that the kids had their own space to sleep separate from our bedroom. The kids had a ball exploring the new space!

After the kids finished exploring, it was time for dinner.

Following dinner, we headed down to the indoor pool. It was interesting trying to swim with only two adults and three children but we managed thanks to Nonna, who had bought the kids puddle jumpers. They were a lifesaver! We also had a float that the trio took turns riding in throughout our playtime in the pool. It was very relaxing after a long day of getting ready and traveling, plus we had the whole pool to ourselves. Unfortunately, it was extremely late and after about an hour, it was time to head back up to the room to get ready for bed. I can't remember the last time the kids were up at 10:00pm! They usually go to bed in between 7:30-8:00pm.

but as you're probably able to tell, they were cranky and ready for sleep!

We spent the next morning having breakfast and then packing up everything we had just unpacked the night before because we were headed to the beach and boardwalk, and then on to my grandparents' house in Delaware. After spending a couple of hours packing and loading ,we learned our lesson that from now on, we will stay at least 2 nights at one place to make it worth our while.

The weather was pretty nice but a little on the hot side and I didn't anticipate how difficult it would be for me to walk around being 8 months pregnant. When we arrived at the boardwalk, it was lunchtime so we got some food to feed the triplets and ourselves. However, by the time we were finished with that, Jamison was ready for a nap. We checked out the arcade but never really made it to the beach. I was a bit disappointed that the kids didn't get an up-close view of the ocean and sand but at the same time, I knew the trio were done and honestly, so was I. This reminded us of how important it is to be flexible and to adjust to the kids' needs rather than the other way around! The kids needed sleep so it was the perfect time to get in the car and drive the hour to Dad-Dad and Me-Me's house. There will be plenty of other opportunities to go to the beach in the future since it's only 2 hours away.

We had a nice visit although the triplets were quick to test any childproofing my grandparents had completed prior to our arrival. They thoroughly enjoyed getting into all of the cabinets, playing with coasters, pushing buttons on the dishwasher, wearing Dad-Dad and Me-Me's shoes and playing in the blinds.

Of course, there were plenty of opportunities for tickles, snuggles and smooches!
